Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past six months, you probably heard whispers of a new bodybuilding film in the works that’s supposedly a remake of the groundbreaking film Pumping Iron. If you don’t know what Pumping Iron is, shame on you! Released in 1977, directors George Butler and Robert Fiore invited the general population to take a journey through the niche culture of bodybuilding, which ultimately set off the fitness craze of the 80’s. Pumping Iron limped it’s way into theaters but quickly became a box office smash and one of the greatest films of all time, catapulting Arnold Schwarzenegger into superstardom. Thirty-five years later, the world is being reintroduce to the still mysterious culture of professional bodybuilding with Generation Iron.
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of The Arnold Sports Festival and Russian born filmmaker Vlad Yudin knows that this is the perfect venue to promote his highly anticipated docudrama, Generation Iron. Scheduled for release this September, Generation Iron will go beyond the gym walls and dive deep into the lives, and psyches, of a group of bodybuilders in pursuit of the coveted title of Mr. Olympia. Generation Iron promises to bring a new perspective to the intricate world of professional bodybuilding and show a different side of IFBB superstars Branch Warren, Dennis Wolf, Ben Pakulski, Kai Green, Phil Heath and others.
Just in case you needed yet another reason to get excited about this year’s Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, this is it. Promotion of Generation Iron will be taking place from February 28th to March 3rd.
